Selection Process of Assam Police Recruitment
1. Preliminary Verification of Documents
Before appearing for the Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET), candidates’ original documents and photocopies will be verified. Any incorrect or forged documents may lead to disqualification and legal action.
2. Physical Standard Test (PST)
Candidates must meet the required height, weight, and chest measurements (for males). Additional checks such as knock knees, vision test, color blindness, flat foot, varicose veins, and physical deformities will also be conducted. PST carries no marks.
3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidates clearing PST will undergo the PET, which consists of the following:
Race
- Male: 3,200 meters in 14 minutes
- Female: 1,600 meters in 8 minutes
Long Jump
- Male: Minimum 335 cm (3 attempts)
- Female: Minimum 244 cm (3 attempts)
Chin-Ups (For Male Candidates Only)
- Less than 4 – Disqualified
- 4 chin-ups – 10 marks
- Each additional chin-up increases marks by 1, up to a maximum of 20 marks for 14 chin-ups.
Note: Candidates failing in any PST or PET event will be disqualified. Qualifying in PET does not guarantee a Written Test appearance.
After PET, merit lists will be prepared based on PET marks converted into percentages. Candidates will be shortlisted for the Written Test at a ratio of 5 times the number of vacancies in each category.
4. Written Test
The Written Test will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), each carrying 0.5 marks, for a total of 50 marks.
